June 26, 2017 -- The Tender Mercies of the Lord

Hello everyone!
Is is amazing how fast Mondays come! Well we did a lot of finding this week..... The Elders in our ward baptized 2 people on Saturday! The baptism was great! The spirit was so strong. It was a mother and her son! We got to sing a musical number for it called The Tender Mercies  of the Lord you can look it up on lds.org and from that song she new the church was true. And so when we sang it, it brought tear to her face and the spirit was so strong! Oh we also have been listening to a lot of John Bytheway talks and you should listen to Turn off the TV and get a life. It is really good!
I hope you have a great Canada Day!

Sister Russell

June 19th, 2017 – Happy Fathers Day

Hello,
So there was so much this week.... I had zone conference this week. It was really great and super spiritual; you could feel the spirit so strong. So for every zone conference all the missionaries have to prepare a 5 minute talk on a topic that they give us.  My topic was "What think ye of Christ." Well I did not think I would have to give it because I gave mine last zone conference.... I was wrong.... I have really grown my testimony of the Savior. Well when I got up there the tears filled my eyes I couldn't even see my page. I started by reading I know that my Redeemer lives!... It was a very spiritual day! Well Sister Dungan and I did a lot of tracting and also street contacting his week. We also got to help out with Winnipeg Harvest.  On Tuesday we went around and delivered flyers and then on Saturday we went around and helped collect the food for the food bank.  That’s called Winnipeg Harvest.
So the bedbugs situation; we have not seen any since we moved. We are now living in a different apartment. I still have a lot of my stuff at the other apartment. Right now the plan is to stay away from that apartment.  Once we got told to leave we are trying to not go back until we have to move all of our stuff because if we are not there the bedbugs should leave because they have no one to feed off of.  So that was my week here in Winnipeg!
I hope you have a great week!

Sister Russell

June 12th, 2017 - Oh oh half way there, oh oh living on a prayer...

Hello,
Well I think you are all wondering about the bed bug problem... Well let’s just say I have thought a lot about burning everything I own because they don't like heat and heat kills them... but I haven't yet.  So on Tuesday night we stayed at another apartment that hasn’t been used for a few months it is close to the church but it is not in our area but I haven't seen any bedbugs! We also bagged our whole apartment and sprayed it with rubbing alcohol. And we also dried everything for 30 minutes. We stayed there because our apartment got fumigated on Wednesday. We stayed at the other apartment Wednesday. Thursday we went back and everything looked good and they set up 7 traps. Friday morning when we got up I saw a bed bug and called the mission office. Well we are now living in the other apartment we stayed the 2 nights in till they find as a new apartment. We also called the fumigator that we used for the bedbugs  He told us it is normal to see them after and if we continue to see them after a week we need to call him and they will spray again. So before we went over we had to dry everything that we brought in for 30 minutes. We have gone to the laundry mat so much that the ladies working there know who we are really well.  Well anyway we still moved to the other apartment and I still spray myself with rubbing alcohol  before I leave. I still look I am still living out of garbage bags. but I haven't seen any which is really nice.
! I got to witness the Elders giving the sacrament to a lady that couldn’t come to church. It was nice to see and I could feel the spirit as strong in her room as in the church. It is amazing to know that the church is the same wherever you go and it has that spirit. When the Elders were preparing they asked us to sing a sacrament song and we sang “I stand all amazed”, I just love the song and the spirit it brings!

I hope you all will have a great week!

June 5th, 2017- Don’t let the bed bugs bite.

Hello everyone,
FACTS
-Bedbugs lay 1-5 eggs a day
-Rubbing alcohol can be used as a repellent

Well it has been a long week. On Tuesday I broke my camera :( So I can’t do a video.)  I am only going to write the interesting stuff. Well on Wednesday I started the journey to Winnipeg.. I drove to Regina, we stayed the night in Regina. We got up at 5 and started the drive to Winnipeg. I think the TIWI (driving alert box) only got mad at me 4 times because of my speed during the two 2 days of driving. The other sister I took turns driving to Winnipeg.  There is nothing to see.  I will rephrase that. You can see for miles and still not see a thing. When we got to the church, I was assigned Sister Dungan as my companion. She is from the Philippines she was assigned to this ward the same time I got transferred to Winnipeg the first time so she has served here for 4 1/2 months.  I was on splits with her before. We got a new car it had 102 km on it when I got it! It is a Toyota RAV 4 2017 I think. Well as soon as we got to our apartment I vacuumed the floor I wouldn't say it was dirty... well anyway I vacuumed a black bug I didn't think much of it. Then in the morning (Friday) Sister Dungan found a Bedbug on my bed! And she as 2 areas with bites so we called and told the office. They said we needed to catch one or send pictures of the bites. So we went to the store and bought rubbing alcohol.. We vacuumed every corner of our apartment and sprayed it with rubbing alcohol. I do have to admit we got high off of it. We sent pictures of Sister Dungan’s bites and they are bedbug bites. But they did not call us till the evening. Well just after they called us I saw a bed bug run into our apartment from the door from the halls so I caught it. So this week of being in Winnipeg I have caught 3 bedbugs so far. I have washed all our clothes..... It has been very stressful!
I hope you are having a better week then me!

Sister Russell
